TWO brass-necked cops left their patrol car right under a no-parking sign - to nip off and buy their breakfasts.
Witnesses watched in amazement as the duo ignored the sign.
The cops also paid no attention to other illegally-parked cars, and passed up the chance to park legally 200 yards away.
The squad car was left in the no-parking zone for around 20 minutes. One onlooker said: "I assumed the police were off investigating a crime. I couldn't believe my eyes when they strolled out of a sandwich shop with bags bulging with food.
"They were laughing and joking. "You'd have to be pretty dumb to think you'd get away with doing that. It's not one rule for them and one for the rest of us.
"The area's notorious for bad parking and they're not the first to be caught there."
The cops, a man and a woman, were reported to their bosses after their parking stunt in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, on Tuesday.
A police source said: "They were read the riot act when they got back to the station.
"This is the last thing the bosses want to be dealing with. It's safe to say these two won't be doing it again."
Strathclyde Police confirmed they had been notified of the parking incident.
A spokeswoman said: "We have looked into a complaint and have dealt with it appropriately."
